Russel was one of the BEAGLE creatures grown by Professor Julius Quilter. Like the others, he was named after Alfred Russel Wallace.

He and Wallace were superior in intelligence and agility and had their genetic structure accelerated using drugs. They died, but the mistakes that the scientists made meant that Alfred was able to survive. (HOMEVID: Unnatural Selection)
