John Ronald Simm (born 10th July 1970 in Leeds, West Yorkshire) played Harold Saxon, the most recent incarnation of the Master in Utopia, The Sound of Drums and Last of the Time Lords. Simm is to return as the Master in two episodes[1]. All five of his episodes were written by Russell T Davies.

He is probably best known for his role as Sam Tyler in the BBC drama Life on Mars.
