A real world interface is the part of the TARDIS which connects the outer plasmic shell of the ship to the exterior. (DW: Logopolis)

Depending on how the chameleon circuit might configure the TARDIS, the real world interface might resemble doors or a doorway. On other occasions, the real world interface may not appear visibly at all, making the TARDIS appear like an object with no obvious entry point into the interior.
