Dr Kendrick was a scientist in the employ of John Lumic that oversaw the creation and testing of the prototype Cyberman in 2007 in an alternate universe. Shortly thereafter, he informed Lumic that Geneva needed to be informed of its creation. Seeing Kendrick as a security hazard, Lumic gave his first Cyberman the order to murder him, which it promptly carried out. (TV: Rise of the Cybermen)
