Alpha Centauri was the home planet of the Alpha Centauran race. It was also a part of the Galactic Federation and served as its headquarters in 3375. (DW: The Curse of Peladon, The Monster of Peladon, MA: The Dark Path)

Alpha Centauri may also have been the base for the Alpha Centauran Table Tennis Club, if the club is galactic. (DW: Robot)

It may be that the Alpha Centaurans came from the Alpha Centauri system and that their home world is not called so.
