Mrs Pierce was the wife of Tommy Pierce, who had to keep his career at Torchwood One a secret from her and led her to believe that he was merely a bus mechanic. She enjoyed reading.
Eventually, Tommy brought home a device that allowed the user to absorb the contents of a book instantly. Mrs Pierce enjoyed it and accepted his life at Torchwood. However, Tommy later returned home and found that she had been retconned by Torchwood. Unhappy with lying to her, he became an alcoholic and she left him. (AUDIO: Retirement Plan)
