All members of Torchwood One signed a contract which bound them to continue with Torchwood right up until their deaths, barring a dismissal from Yvonne Hartman. This meant Tommy Pierce was not allowed to retire, (AUDIO: Retirement Plan) and Guleraana Arbid would not be permitted to leave and seek other employment. (AUDIO: Uprising)
