Orphan 55 was the third episode of series 12 of Doctor Who, following the two-part premiere Spyfall. It debuted a new approach to how Earth's future was handled by televised Doctor Who, having the Thirteenth Doctor explicitly spell out that the future was always in motion such that a variety of potential futures for Earth coexisted within the universe, depending on the choices made by the people in the present.
