The Gobi Desert was a vast and sandy desert in China and Mongolia.
Geography
Lop was located on the western edge of the desert, while on the eastern side was Tun-Huang. (TV: Marco Polo)
History
When the First Doctor, Susan, Ian and Barbara met Marco Polo in 1289, they travelled across it on their way to the Tun-Huang, briefly stopping at a small oasis on the way. (TV: Marco Polo)
