Foon Van Hoff was a humanoid from Sto. She was married to Morvin Van Hoff, who she loved very much. They worked in the milk market where they met. Her favourite TV show was By the Light of the Asteroid.
Foon participated in a competition to board the Titanic. She entered many times and ended up spending more on calls than she would have for the trip itself. She and her husband were bullied by first class passengers for winning the tickets instead of purchasing them firsthand, who tricked them into believing the party on Christmas Eve was fancy dress. Foon and Morvin befriended the Tenth Doctor after he used his sonic screwdriver to cause a bottle of champagne to explosively open and soak the snooty passengers who'd been laughing at them, much to their amusement, and enjoyed the buffet's special buffalo wings; not knowing much about Earth, Foon thought that buffalo had actual wings.
They took a trip down to Earth along with Bannakaffalatta, the Doctor, Astrid Peth and Mr Copper. Both Foon and Morvin survived when the ship was hit by asteroids and joined the Doctor's group of survivors as they attempted to get to the bridge. In the process of repairing a Heavenly Host to try and clear debris, Foon tearfully confessed to her husband about the huge phone bill she'd racked up in winning the tickets, fearing that he would be angry and hate her. However, Morvin burst out laughing after the initial shock and admitted that while she did drive him barmy sometimes, he still loved her. Both successfully managed to repair the Host and get it working, but were forced to run for their lives when it turned homicidal and tried to kill Morvin.
When Morvin fell to his death in the nuclear storm drive engine, Foon was devastated and broke down in tears. Unable to face life without her beloved husband, Foon committed suicide by jumping into the storm drive as well, though not before tying up the final Host that had been menacing the Doctor and taking it with her.
