The Piltdown Men was the thirteenth Subscriber Short Trips audio story. It was read by Hugh Ross and featured the Second Doctor and H.G. Wells. It was released as a subscriber-only download, available to subscribers who purchased Scavenger.

- During his sixth incarnation, the Doctor would encounter a younger version of H. G. Wells again in Scotland in 1885 and bring him on a trip to Karfel, inspiring him to write many works of his science fiction. (TV: Timelash) The Tenth Doctor also met Wells in London in 1889.
