Westphalia was a region in the west of Germany. Wewelsburg Castle and the nearby village of Wewelsburg were located in Westphalia.
During the time of the Roman Empire, Arminius fought the Romans in the region.
During World War II, Heinrich Himmler performed many ceremonies and rituals in Wewelsburg Casle owing to the historical significance of the area.
