Mons

Mons was a town in Belgium. In August 1914, the British troops were sent to defend Mons from German forces. The ensuing Battle of Mons was the first engagement of the British in World War I.

Harry encountered a Weeping Angel in Mons on 21 August 1914, shortly before the battle. There were rumours of Weeping Angels hunting soldiers during the battle too. (COMIC: The Weeping Angels of Mons)

Following the Battle of Mons, German soldiers passed stories about angels on the battlefield. It was said that they came to take the dead to Heaven. The Tenth Doctor, travelling with Rose Tyler, called it a load of old nonsense. (COMIC: Warfreekz!)
