The women in the wood were a mother and daughter, who lived in a shack in the countryside during the Daleks' invasion of Earth in the 22nd century.
Biography
The women made clothes for the miners who worked at the local mine — which was mining away the rock so that the Daleks could pilot the planet as a ship — in exchange for food, and were left alone by the Daleks.
Barbara Wright and Jenny came to their shack looking for shelter, but the two women betrayed them to the Daleks, receiving more food in return. (TV: The Dalek Invasion of Earth)
