Rianken was the third of the four molten planets of the Mejas system.

History

Rianken was colonised by humans, who adapted to the harsh environment over the next three centuries. During this time, they developed a stockpile of strong metal alloys. This attracted the attention of the Daleks, who invaded the planet. The alloys were very hard to melt, and made excellent shields. This took the Daleks, who expected the planet to be theirs in a few hours, by surprise. The fight the remaining colonists gave the Daleks made them rethink their strategy. As the humans were armed with tanks which could crush any Dalek in their path, the Daleks decided to maintain an air attack and take out the gun turrets. After suffering an unusually high number of casualties, the Daleks won the battle and took all the metal. O.M. Burdett wrote about the conflict in An Alien History of War. (NOTVALID: A Crushing Defeat)
