Max Schreck, born Friedrich Gustav Maximilian Schreck, was a German actor, active both on stage and in early silent cinema. In the latter capacity, Schreck played the part of the vampiric Count Orlok in F. W. Murnau's Nosferatu.

Over 99 years later, footage from Nosferatu was used in the P.R.O.B.E. webcast Living Fiction, where a "living fiction" entity adopts the form of Orlok to menace Giles and Maxie. Thus, decades after his death, Schreck technically portrayed Orlok, and this entity, in P.R.O.B.E..
