Mark Grantham was the human manager of Combat 3000.

Biography

Mark Grantham exploited his aunt in a broadband deal which his father then found out about. Grantham was shaking as his father shouted at him and felt that he needed to take out his feelings on someone. He managed Combat 3000 and, when he was in a bad mood, took out his frustrations on Pam, whose long lunches, shopping habits and attitude he complained about. (PROSE: Warriors of Kudlak)

Grantham secretly worked with Uvlavad Kudlak, using Combat 3000 to recruit soldiers for the Uvodni war. He gave a leaflet to Luke Smith and Maria Jackson, the latter of whom began investigating the business with Sarah Jane Smith after Lance Metcalf went missing. Grantham showed a willingness to kill them in their two unpleasant encounters and was eventually forced by them to transport them to the Uvodni spaceship to save Luke and Clyde Langer.

When the games were shut down, Grantham escaped. Sarah Jane decided not to pursue him, believing that he was the type of person who could not stay out of trouble for long and that he would most likely be his own undoing one day. (TV: Warriors of Kudlak)

Behind the scenes

  • There were plans for Grantham to return as the main antagonist in Series 3's The Mad Woman in the Attic. In early drafts of the plot, he had kidnapped Eve to use her psychic powers for his own benefit.[1]
