Macbeth of Scotland

Macbeth was a King of Scotland who ruled approximately "six hundred years" prior to William Shakespeare's native time in the early 17th century.

He later became best known as the titular character of Shakespeare's play Macbeth. Shakespeare based Macbeth on Holinshed's Chronicles of England, Scotland and Ireland, determining him to be the "perfect subject" for a play which was to be put before King James I after noting the witchcraft, regicide, beheading, as well as the chance for James' ancestor Banquo to be shown in a good light.
