Dame Diana Rigg (born 20 July 1938[1]-10 September 2020[2]) portrayed Winifred Gillyflower in the Doctor Who television story The Crimson Horror. Her daughter, Rachael Stirling, portrayed her character's daughter. She was also the first Dame Commander to appear in Doctor Who (and the first to have such an honourific included in her on-screen credit).

Diana Rigg is best known for playing Emma Peel in the Sydney Newman-created series The Avengers, and as Tracy in the James Bond film On Her Majesty's Secret Service, although she has a large resume of distinguished film, stage and TV roles. She was the fourth Game of Thrones actor to appear in Series 7 after David Bradley, Liam Cunningham and Tobias Menzies.

The character of Athena James in the 2016 Fourth Doctor comic book miniseries Gaze of the Medusa was drawn to resemble Rigg as she appeared in the 1960s.

Her final film role was Miss Collins in Edgar Wright's film Last Night in Soho, which also starred Matt Smith.
