Telos Publishing, run by David J. Howe and Stephen James Walker, published the Telos Doctor Who novellas, as well as the Time Hunter novellas, which are tangentially linked to the Doctor Who universe and unofficial and unlicensed Doctor Who and Torchwood non-fiction guide books. Numerous authors connected to the Doctor Who media franchise have contributed works to the company, either relating to Doctor Who or other programmes. In 2009, Reeltime Pictures devoted an edition of its Myth Makers interview series to the staff at Telos.

Although Telos ended its series of original Doctor Who novellas early in the 2000s, it continues to publish non-fiction works, including The Target Book, occasional updates to Howe's Transcendental Toybox and The Comic Strip Companion in 2012.
