The script would have seen the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe face the [[Celestial Toymaker]] and [[Hecuba]] together, playing a more deadly game than in their previous encounters. After going through several perilous ordeals, the Doctor would have decided that it would be safest to send his companions home, before going up against the two villains for one final round. This would have seen destroyed the Toymaker and Hecuba, whilst triggering the Doctor's second regeneration.{{Source}}

The Stones of Darkness was an unproduced script written by Brian Hayles, initially intended to end both Season 6 and Patrick Troughton's tenure as the Doctor. Hayles stopped writing it after his other submission for Season 6, The Queen of Time, was dropped.
