The Stones of Darkness was an unproduced script written by Brian Hayles, initially intended to end both Season 6 and Patrick Troughton's tenure as the Doctor. Hayles stopped writing it after his other submission for Season 6, The Queen of Time, was dropped.
The script would have seen the Doctor, Jamie and Zoe face the Celestial Toymaker and Hecuba together. After going through several perilous ordeals, the Doctor would have decided to send his companions home for their own safety, before going into the game's final round.
