The Torchwood Archives was a Torchwood novel. It retold the events of the TV series up until Exit Wounds, via the narrative device of an in-universe exposé on Torchwood Three's activities, created by one Warren Martyn.
The framing device was that the book's near-publication by Garden Tower Publishing was suppressed by Torchwood themselves to preserve their secrecy, leading to the presence of multiple notes from Ianto Jones — as the text of the book was suggested to be a facsimile of the only surviving copy, as held within Torchwood's own archives.

- Gwen Cooper was born 16 August 1978 according to her Torchwood records, (TV: Children of Earth: Day Two) although the CIA's file on her stated she was born on 5 May. (TV: The New World)
- Ianto Jones was born 19 August 1983 (TV: Fragments)
- Owen Harper was born 14 February 1980 (TV: Exit Wounds) According to his records in The Torchwood Archives, he was born 14 February 1982.
- Toshiko Sato's Torchwood records give her birthdate as 18 September 1975. She was actually born July 1975, (TV: Greeks Bearing Gifts) and on another occasion her Torchwood records contained a birthdate of 19 September 1981, (TV: Exit Wounds) due to an incident Toshiko had whilst trying to stop a torrent file from corrupting the world.
