[[Sylvia Noble (Donna's World)|Sylvia Noble]] knew of Jival Chowdry through her friend, [[Suzette Chambers|Suzette]]. In [[June]] [[2007]], she successfully persuaded her daughter to accept an introduction for a job as a secretary in his photocopy business, instead of going to [[H.C. Clements]].
 
Mr Chowdry promoted Donna six months later, giving her a new role as his personal assistant. However, the draining of the [[River Thames]] by the [[Tenth Doctor]] caused a downturn in his business. He sacked her in [[2008]], and when Donna was sacked she threatened to tell people about Chowdry's "wandering hands".
