Bernard was a bulldog belonging to Jim Purcell. Although intimidating to Purcell's tenants and visitors, he seemed affectionate to his owner. In 2011, he was not bothered by Purcell's disappearance and quickly settled down again. Bernard didn't show much change in disposition when Purcell was returned from his ordeal as a peg doll, either.
