Fusion-web was a Hyperion technology used to transfuse the energy of a sun into individual Hyperions to prolong their lives.
The use of a fusion-web on a sun left it drained of energy, and as the planets in its solar system froze their inhabitants would go extinct. The wide-spread use of fusion-webs by the Hyperions led to the Great Inferno, a war led by Rassilon's Alliance of Races that wiped out most Hyperions. (COMIC: Terrorformer)
