The Fifth Doctor listed Passchendaele as one of the many battlefields he had walked through. (PROSE: The King of Terror) Charley Pollard's uncle Jacques lost an arm during the battle. Behind the scenes
The Battle of Passchendaele is also known as the Third Battle of Ypres as a result of the two towns being very close to each other. Fighting at Ypres during World War I is mentioned in PROSE: Illegal Alien but the real world connections between the battles at Ypres and Passchendaele have yet to be referenced in the DWU.
