The Chief Engineer was head of engineering at a Euro Sea Gas refinery under John Robson, whom he had worked under for many years, including the time they spent at sea on the rigs. He assisted the Second Doctor in his efforts to defeat the weed creature. (TV: Fury from the Deep)
