Craftsman Stephen Weams (PROSE: The Scales of Justice, Beast of Fang Rock) was a soldier in the British Army's Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. He took part in the fight against the Great Intelligence and its robot Yeti in the London Underground. During this, he was often partnered with Corporal Nicholas Blake, who came from a different branch of the army and once annoyed Weams by jokingly insulting the REME; both regretted fighting the Yeti with minimal firepower.

Weams was unaware of what the Yeti really were. He correctly guessed they came from "outer space" but mistook Travers having met them before in Tibet as Travers being mad and believing they were invading from Tibet.

He was later killed when the Yeti invaded the Army HQ at Goodge Street. (TV: The Web of Fear) His body was recovered by C19 and kept in frozen storage within the Vault. (PROSE: The Scales of Justice, Beast of Fang Rock)

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

The REME use the term "Craftsman" instead of "Private". In the novelisation, Terrence Dicks simplified it by calling him "Private Weams" throughout.
