World War II was a major conflict conducted mainly in Europe and Asia and parts of northern Africa from 1939 to 1945.
The war was started in 1938 due to the Nemesis statue. Arriving on Earth, the statue caused Adolf Hitler to annex the country of Austria. The Doctor has visited this period a number of times including his seventh incarnation during the events of "the curse of Fenric" and his ninth incarnation during the events of "the empty child/the doctor dances".
