== Thank you for the kind words ==
I appreciate the thanks you gave me for adding the covers to those Region 4 DVDs, and I want to extend my own thanks back to you in return. I've really gotten into collecting Doctor Who DVDs as of recently, and as such, I've wanted to make sure the Wikis documentation of such is as comprehensive as possible. The sandbox you linked has been really helpful in this regard, and (as you've presumably seen) I've done my best to fill in certain gaps present within it in the days since you first messaged me.
Again, many thanks for your kinds words to me, and for providing me with a guideline for what DVD images still need to be added.

Page moves

Hi please note that per Thread:128198 only admins are allowed to move pages on this wiki thanks Shambala108 23:18, March 30, 2019 (UTC)

OK, sorry I didn't realise. Doc77can 23:20, March 30, 2019 (UTC)
Hi first make sure you understand the difference between a rename and a speedy rename. Considering that you had changed almost twenty pages for the same reason, there might be a reason why documentaries don't have the dab term. For something like this, it might be better to bring it up at Board:The Panopticon or ask User:CzechOut on his talk page. Thanks Shambala108 03:51, March 31, 2019 (UTC)
OK Thanks Doc77can 10:35, March 31, 2019 (UTC)

Actually, as per T:MOVE LOCK (and enforced by T:LOCAL RULES) non-admins are generally allowed to move pages.

Speedy renames

Hi there. I see you have been adding speedy rename requests to multiple documentary pages but to best of my knowledge the "(documentary)" dab term is not compulsory and is usually only added when it conflicts with another page. Are there any other reasons for these requests? --Borisashton 17:55, July 14, 2020 (UTC)

Neatness mainly, as many of the DVD documentary pages have the "(documentary)" dab and I've recently made a navigation template for DVD documentaries which I have been added to those pages with the dab term in all the links. --Doc77can 17:59, July 14, 2020 (UTC)
  • adding to those pages (sorry about that typo). --Doc77can 18:00, July 14, 2020 (UTC)
While I'm (typically) pro-"neatness" most times, I'm afraid Boris is correct: dab terms are only mandatory for stories. Documentaries, anthologies, series, and everything else gets a dab only if a conflict exists (be it with a story, another release, or an in-universe term). So, sorry if you've done a lot of link-moving already, but that'll need to be undone for the documentaries that don't conflict with any other pages, and the templates and lists that currently exist should be edited accordingly as well. OncomingStorm12th 20:02, 15 December 2020 (UTC)
Thanks for bringing them to me. Indeed there are some changes that need to be made, but there are some that don't:
  • Firstly, a reminded that dab terms are only to be added when strictly needed (the only exception being stories, which always get dabbed), so while [[Doctor Forever!]] is an incorrect title, [[Dr. Forever! (documentary series)]] is not what we're looking for. There's nothing else (that I know of, at least) with that name, so it should be placed at [[Dr. Forever!]] - or, even more correctly, at dr. forever (as the title card has no capital letters). In short, neither this, nor several other pages you listed need (and therefore won't get) dab terms.
  • This is another rule you might not be aware of, but, overall, we avoid prefixes for series whenever possible. This is why we have, say, Silenced (audio anthology) instead of [[UNIT: Silenced]]. For this reason, some of the dr. forever! pages also don't need moving (but, in the case they did need, then they'd not need dab terms).
  • Lastly, let's stick as closely to the title cards as we can. [[John Kane Remembers...]]'s title card doesn't use quotations marks, so our page should not have them as well.
.... all that said (and sorry if it seems I'm shoving tons of info on you; it's just that I notice them and prefer to note all at once), I appreciate you bringing them to me, and I'll perform the necessary renames. OncomingStorm12th 01:19, 16 December 2020 (UTC)

Monster Files

Firstly, sorry for the delayed response; but arrghhh! indeed at this situation. My advice would be to try and keep the titles as close to the title cards as possible (and maybe have any/all other spellings and names as redirects to the title card name).

As I don't have the DVD sets, could you perhaps give me a list of the pages that need renaming? OncomingStorm12th 19:06, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

RE: Top Trumps

It's all good. I recently got the game so it was no trouble at all to fill in the blanks. LauraBatham 03:21, 14 March 2021 (UTC)

Re: Splitting pages

Well, I don't know that "splitting" is the right word; the Doctor Who Activity Annual and Doctor Who Funfax pages should remain, as overviews of these two short-lived "series" — rewritten in a format comparable to Doctor Who annual. But yes, each book should definitely have its own page, if they have such radically different contents. Scrooge MacDuck 16:08, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

The dabs work. I'm not sure about cutting the "Doctor Who" from the title, however. We don't do so for regular Doctor Who Annuals; should "Activity" Annuals really be any different? Scrooge MacDuck 16:31, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Re: Crew template for BBC Wales behind-the-scenes programmes

Hi Doc77can, I totally agree that a template for this should exist. I've always wanted to, at some point, introduce {{wales crew}}-like templates for stuff other than modern Who and behind the scenes programmes seem as good a place to start as any. I'll take a look at the template and SMW stuff tomorrow and work out some of the specifics but I don't feel it will be that hard to make. I think the hardest thing will making sure the template comprehensively covers all credited roles correctly but that can always be updated and changed in future quite easily. Bongo50 21:41, 23 April 2022 (UTC)

Hi, sorry for my late response: I'm quite busy at the moment. Looking at it, {{wales crew}} is quite complex but I believe there are a few things that could be simplified to make this template easier to put together and keep up to date. {{wales crew}} has a section at the top for the "heavy hitters". Would these roles be the same for the behind the scene shows' credits? Bongo50
Hi, sorry about how long it's been since I last spoke to you about this. I have some good news though. Firstly, I have created a template, {{CrewCredit}}, that allows crew templates like {{wales crew}} to be put together much more easily. Secondly, I have used this template to create {{BTS crew}}. So far, I have tested it on Doctor Who: A New Dimension (CON episode), TDW 1, Welcome to Torchwood (TD episode) and Doctor Who Greatest Moments: The Doctor. This has allowed me to iron out a number of issues. However, there are likely quite a few more that I haven't yet discovered (or that I have discovered but haven't yet got around to fixing yet). Therefore, please let me know if you encounter any issues or things that could be improved. Bongo50 15:23, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
Also, I haven't yet put together documentation or even a list of variables for the template. I will get around to this at some point, but for now, variables are almost all just TheCreditWithTheFirstLetterOfEveryWordCapitalisedAndWithNoSpaces,LikeThis (the credit with the first letter of every word capitalised and with no spaces, like this). I recommend using the pages I've already tested the template on as examples. If there are any variables you're unsure of, please feel free to ask. Bongo50 15:30, 10 August 2022 (UTC)
Hi, your second and third issues are really easy to fix so I'll do that now. The first issue is a little more involved but isn't too hard. I'll have a look at it later today or maybe tomorrow. Bongo50 13:41, 22 August 2022 (UTC)
So the first issue ended up being quite a bit trickier to implement than I thought it would and I've been suffering from a slight lack of time and energy recently, the upshot being that it has taken me over a month to do it. I'm really, really sorry about that. However it is now done. The way I've done it has meant introducing some edge cases that I don't think will ever come up, but they might. If you see anything with the template that looks weird or incorrect, please let me know. Bongo50 16:35, 22 October 2022 (UTC)
None of those issues should be particularly hard to fix so I should be able to get them done tomorrow if all goes well. Bongo50 21:39, 1 November 2022 (UTC)
It took a bit longer than expected to get round to but I have now made these fixes. Please let me know if you find anything else broken. Bongo50 17:30, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing these out. I've fixed them. Please let me know if you notice anything else like this. Also, when pipe-switching, use {{!}} instead of |. Also, you don't need to pipe-switch to remove dabs: these will be removed automatically. See this edit to The Daleks (CON episode). Bongo50 15:38, 16 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi, sorry for taking a while to get back to you. I'll go through these in order:
  • Done
  • Done
  • Done
  • Set it to any value, such as |EleventhDoctor=true
  • Fixed I hope
  • This is a very broad issue with this style of template in general. I will look into improving it, but it's not the sort of thing I can bang out quickly in 30 minutes.
  • Done
  • This one is actually freeform. You can type whatever you like. My intent was for it to be one of:
If there are any more issues, please don't hesitate to raise them! Bongo50 16:54, 19 July 2023 (UTC)
Thanks for pointing all of these out. |SeniorProducer= should be fixed. |ExecutuveProducerForDrWho2= wasn't working because of a typo. I've fixed this automatically with a bot. |Animation= and |AnimationCast= should both be fixed. |BBCWales= and |CBBC= have been moved. I've added |URL=. The "Special and visual effects" section should now only show up if it has content.
With {{Infobox Documentary}}, I've added |runtime2=, |runtime3= and |series episode number= as requested.
Let me know if you find any further issues! Bongo50 20:31, 20 July 2023 (UTC)
Hi. I'm currently on holiday with limited editing time and my priority is on {{cite source}} which launched yesterday and has a few issues. Therefore, I'll add the stuff for {{Infobox Documentary}} to my to-do list but it may be anything from a few days to 2 weeks until I get to it. Regarding the music-related episodes, I feel that their credits could be better served with seperate sections, similar to the "South Africa crew" section on Spyfall (TV story) or the "UK crew" section on The New World (TV story). I didn't see your {{IntervieweeCredit}} template question. Sorry about that. I'll respond to that later today. Bongo50 13:47, 24 July 2023 (UTC)
I've fixed the issue, for now, by removing SMW from the field. I'm not sure where I'll add it back as it would be a lot of work to get functioning properly. While I was at it, I added |runtime4=. I'll add the other requested fields soon. Bongo50 07:20, 28 July 2023 (UTC)
I've made all of the requested updates to {{Infobox Documentary}}. Let me know if there are any issues! I'll add the "Concert Crew" section to {{BTS crew}} at somepoint soon. Bongo50 19:37, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
I've added what I believe should be the necessary arangements for both Music and Monsters and Backstage at the Doctor Who Prom. Do you think they look alright? Bongo50 18:41, 27 August 2023 (UTC)

R.E.: UNIT website

Ah thank you for the praise and the links to those websites. I've currently been using this website for links (though it seems to be an old Wikipedia page, haha) however some of the links there are incorrect, so the links you've provided are really helpful.

I'll probably try to get at least a few of these websites fully covered in the next few months, though I will be creating a page for UNIT History (short story), a short story in The UNIT Sourcebook, and reworking the Classified! A Confidential 3-D Dossier into a valid page considering it is actually entirely in-universe and vaguely narrative too, before I do any work on any other website.

08:46, 25 April 2022 (UTC)

A big thanks for all the new information you posted on my talk page. 11:49, 30 April 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading those images, they'll save me a good amount of time in the future. Happy Holidays to you, by the way! 21:27, 24 December 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading more images too. I also just created Bad Wolf (website), if you'd like to have a read-through. 23:11, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

BBC Books (Year) or /Year

Hi Doc77can, I'm really enjoying your work on more detailed BBC Books year pages. Could I suggest that rather than creating the pages at BBC Books (2005) et al, you move them to BBC Books/2005 and so on? This would make them analogous to Doctor Who Magazine/2005, which uses subpages rather than a year dab format. – n8 () 18:36, 21 July 2022 (UTC)

For(u)m Letter

Hey there, I hope your Halloween was decent. As you might know, we've not had forums for over two years at this point. A few of the regular editors have been having a discussion on this topic at Forum talk:Index and we'd like the input of other prominent editors if you have the inclination. Cheers. Re: DVD covers

I assume you've been through all of Category:BBC DVD covers? That category is automatically added when files of that type are given licenses (which is required by policy) so it should contain everything. Borisashton 22:29, 24 November 2022 (UTC)

Re: CrewCredit style template for Property:Interviewee ????

This is definitely practical and possible. Do you want to store the role alongisde the name of the interviewee? This should be possible. As with the changes to {{Infobox Documentary}}, this may take a little while to get to. Bongo50 16:46, 24 July 2023 (UTC)

I meant storing the role as its own property (Property:Interviewee role or something), but connected to Property:Interviewee. However, thinking more on this, it's probably not necessary, as you say. I'll get on this template soon. Bongo50 18:51, 3 August 2023 (UTC)
I've completed my first draft of this template, {{IntervieweeList}}. The syntax is different to your suggestion and, while I haven't written any documentation yet, I've used it on Doctor Who: A New Dimension (CON episode) which should give you the idea of how to use it if you want to start using it. Bongo50 19:38, 10 August 2023 (UTC)
Hi. The template should work fine if used multiple times on the same page. I'll add the ability to have the combined credits. It shouldn't be too hard. Bongo50 17:33, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Hmm. I'd probably add them in an "=== Uncredited interviewees ===" subsection to mirror the treatment crew get. You can use the template again in this section. Bongo50 20:13, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
Sorry, I have not. I expect that I'll have some time to add it tomorrow or the day after. Bongo50 21:27, 18 August 2023 (UTC)
All done and implemented at Monsters Inc. (CON episode) which should be enough to work out the usage. Let me know if there are any further issues! I'll get on the next few changes to {{BTS crew}} soon. Bongo50 20:03, 19 August 2023 (UTC)
