XL5 on Terror Planet was a short story printed in TV Century 21 that contained elements from the Doctor Who universe. Framed as the front page of an in-universe periodical, the titular article instead made reference to the Fireball XL5 content in the issue with a smaller piece tying-in to the Thunderbirds comic story Solar Danger, which was a crossover with the DWU.

Characters
Worldbuilding
- The Styracian invasion fleet reported on Monday that the WSP ship Fireball XL5, which is voluntarily attached to Styrax forces in a defensive war against the planet Volkanos, has proceeded into enemy orbit to act as an advance guard and range relay vessel.
- The latest report from Marshal Golgath indicates radio contact has been broken with XL5. This could mean that Colonel Zodiac has taken the ship down to the molten fire-and-lava surface. He and his colleagues are suspected to be in the gravest danger if this is true.
- Volkanos was previously thought to be uninhabited but is in fact home to a race of beings created from living fire.
Story notes
- This story is another crossover with Thunderbirds and Fireball XL5.
Continuity
- Thunderbird 3 remains immobilised after a crash splash-down into a sulphur lake on the Magnax continent of Venus. (PROSE: Monster Attacks Thunderbird 3, Thunderbird One, Death-Lake Terror, Disaster!)
- Steve Zodiac and his crew are on a mission on Styrax. (PROSE: Time Runs Out For Thunderbird 3)
- A newsflash from International Rescue reveals Thunderbird 1, 2 and 4 are all present on Venus to rescue TB 3. The dangers of the unexplored continent threaten to virtually wipe out the entire Thunderbirds organisation if just one mistake is made. (COMIC: Solar Danger)
