::One completely different possibility that a few people have brought up in various places: Maybe 11 is a lot more like 7 than he appears, and he's actually been plotting this whole thing out from the start. He's been using Amy and Rory without their knowledge (but hopefully to their benefit, as well as the whole universe's), just as he did with Ace. That would be a good explanation for the whole "why me" scene, certainly.
