He was summoned to the Slough of the Disunited Planets by the Warkeeper, who meant to bring Mike Yates instead. He was taken by the Harpies and used as the new Warkeeper. They invaded Upper Wardleswick and Yates declared war on France. He lost his power as Warkeeper after the crown was taken by the Tenth Doctor and used by the Brigadier to banish the harpies. Behind the scenes

After fan discussion about Yates's political party on Twitter, Alan Barnes responded by stating that Yates was "some idiot independent", and that the Wardleswick Immigration Concern was "just him and his Mum, and she's a bit wobbly."[1]
