K-9's Finest Hour was a comic story printed in Doctor Who Weekly issue 12. It was written by Steve Moore. It featured the Fourth Doctor and K9 Mark II.

Summary

A gravatronic tractor beam is used to capture the TARDIS, but accidentally locks on to K9 instead of the Doctor, kidnapping the robot. Firandel and Rolgot are behind the botched kidnap, working for the Sontarans. K9 realises their intention to kidnap and kill the Doctor because of the lack of air on his expected arrival and overpowers his "hosts" before the Doctor and the TARDIS arrive in safety to collect him.

Notes

  • This back up strip is introduced by the Fourth Doctor, who explains K9's absence from Doctor Who and the Iron Legion and City of the Damned.
  • Aside from the introduction, the Doctor's face is never shown in-full during the story, with his eyes repeatedly obscured by his hair.
