Jessica Hynes (born 30 October 1972[1]) appeared in the Doctor Who episodes Human Nature / The Family of Blood as Joan Redfern, and The End of Time as Verity Newman. Under the name Jessica Stevenson, she had also voiced Glory Bee, Carla and a Woman in Big Finish's Doctor Who audio drama Invaders from Mars.

She later became well known for her appearances in the sitcom The Royle Family. Hynes co-created and starred in Spaced alongside Simon Pegg, who was also in Invaders from Mars. In 2011 she appeared in The Hour, in which Burn Gorman played her husband. She starred in the mini-series drama Years and Years alongside Russell Tovey, Anne Reid, T'Nia Miller, Lydia West, and Ruth Madeley, which was also written by Russell T Davies.
