Pythagoras-858, also known as Pythe for short, (POEM: Auteur and the Homeworld [+]Loading...["Auteur and the Homeworld (poem)"]) was a member of the Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids and the Prefect of their Department of Problem-Solving.
In December 2020, a few days before Christmas, Pythagoras and his trusted second Juliet-178 were away from the Cupid Homeworld "on official business". This meant it fell to Carter-1277 to examine a mysterious gift in shimmering wrapping which, once he had opened it, turned out to contain Auteur's Abecedarium. (PROSE: Auteur's Abecedarium [+]Loading...["Auteur's Abecedarium (short story)"])
Two years later, Pythe was one of those affected when Auteur brought life to all of the fiction contained within the Cupid Archives, briefly merging with King Arthur. He pulled the sword from the stone which the grand wizard Sigma, having merged with Merlin, then helped him to hone. Herodotus-724 eventually leveraged Auteur's spell to mark the Abecedarium which had once more summoned him to the Homeworld with his "REJECTED from collection" stamp which, in the present state of affairs where everything in the Archives became true, expelled Auteur from the Homeworld and returned everyone to normal. Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]
Pythagoras-858 is a recurring character in The Crew of the Copper-Colored Cupids, the series with which Auteur's Abecedarium [+]Loading...["Auteur's Abecedarium (short story)"] and Auteur and the Homeworld [+]Loading...["Auteur and the Homeworld (poem)"] were crossovers.
The introduction of Auteur's Abecedarium explained that it was an "interlude" to The Time of the Toymaker, the serialised story forming the bulk of 2020's Copper-Colored Cupids Calendar, being published between the eleventh and twelfth chapters. The reference to Pythagoras and Juliet's absence from the Homeworld confirmed both stories were also taking place simultaneously from an in-universe perspective. Additionally, the introduction promised that the story would prove Pythagoras-858 should never be allowed to leave the Crew without supervision for extended periods of time if he liked coming back to a Homeworld that was still in one piece.
The 2023 short story The Sword and the Crown revealed that the Excalibur manifested as a result of Auteur's actions and pulled from the stone by Pythe in Auteur and the Homeworld [+]Loading...["Auteur and the Homeworld (poem)"] had remained in existence following its events, exploring the aftermath of the poem by showing what Pythagoras then did with the sword.
