Henry of Navarre, also spelt Henri, (PROSE: The Massacre) was a Protestant prince. He raised an English army to aid the Sea Beggars at Mons, only for it to be "thrashed" by Spain in July 1572. (PROSE: The Massacre [+]Loading...["The Massacre (novelisation)"])
He married the French princess Margaret of Valois in Paris on 18 August 1572. The marriage was at the behest of Margaret's mother, Catherine de Medici. (PROSE: A History of Humankind) Before the St Bartholomew's Day massacre, Marshal Gaspard de Saux-Tavannes ordered that Simon Duval keep Henry safe by escorting him out of Paris. (TV: "Bell of Doom")
