The Griffith Observatory was a large observatory in Los Angeles, California. It was designed and funded by Colonel Griffith J. Griffith.
The Tenth Doctor and Martha Jones visited the Griffith Observatory sometime in the mid-1950s. The Doctor used his psychic paper to gain access to the telescope, which he used to show Martha the last residual image of Gallifrey from before the Last Great Time War.
