Russell Tovey (born 14 November 1981[1]) portrayed Titanic midshipman Alonso Frame in the Doctor Who stories Voyage of the Damned and The End of Time.

In 2017, Tovey returned to the role of Alonso alongside John Barrowman's Captain Jack, in the Big Finish audio story One Enchanted Evening.

In his book The Writer's Tale, Russell T Davies suggested that the young actor would be one of his choices to play the Eleventh Doctor, and DWM 403 contains an article suggesting Tovey was a strong candidate.

Tovey read The Doctor Trap and The Eyeless for their BBC Audio releases. He also provided the narration for the sixth series of Doctor Who Confidential.

Career

Tovey took the role of George the werewolf in Toby Whithouse's Being Human and appeared in The Hounds of Baskerville, an episode of Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss' Sherlock series, as Henry Knight. He has appeared onstage in The History Boys, with Samuel Barnett, Samuel Anderson, James Corden, Jamie Parker, and Sacha Dhawan; and Angels in America with Susan Brown, Amanda Lawrence, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, and Andrew Garfield. In 2019, Tovey worked with Russell T Davies again in Years and Years, alongside Anne Reid, Jessica Hynes, T'Nia Miller, Lydia West, and Ruth Madeley.
