In Search of Doctor X was a free short story published by Thebes Publishing. It was published as an apology to readers for unexpected delays with Into the Unknown. The story was republished in the anthology All I Want for Christmas.

Plot
Erimem and Andy are setting up for Christmas - a holiday Erimem does not understand the concept of - when Andy pitches the idea of going back in time to find the first Doctor X book, which currently sells for high prices on EBay. After visiting the charity shops and retrieving a collection of old money previously owned by Andy's great-granddad the two set off for 1964. It takes some time, but the duo eventually check multiple bookstores (while buying gifts for others) and finally find a copy of the title.
