Brynblaidd (PROSE: Torchwood: The Encyclopedia [+]Loading...["Torchwood: The Encyclopedia (reference book)"]) was a small Welsh village in the Brecon Beacons.

For generations, the villagers of Brynblaidd engaged in a harvest once every ten years, in which they would murder and eat strangers who came near their village. After they had abducted seventeen victims within a thirty mile radius for one of these harvests, Torchwood Three discovered the community, for which Evan Sherman apparently acted as the leader. Soon after, the police arrested the villagers. (TV: Countrycide [+]Loading...["Countrycide (TV story)"])

Behind the scenes[[edit] | [edit source]]

Brynblaidd is not actually named on screen in the narrative of Countrycide [+]Loading...["Countrycide (TV story)"]. It was named in the BBC's original description of the episode however, and therefore has appeared in virtually all subsequent TV listings worldwide. The name later appeared in Torchwood: The Encyclopedia [+]Loading...["Torchwood: The Encyclopedia (reference book)"]. It is also the Welsh for "wolf hill", reflecting the cannibalistic nature of the residents.

The name was also used in the script for Countrycide, spelled as "Brynblaedd", with an added note that the name was to be confirmed.[1]
