Alison was a galaxy the Doctor named. It is unknown when but within his own timeline, it was between the events of the Bowie Base One incident and when he travelled to the Ood Sphere. The Doctor referenced this in a list of things the Doctor told Ood Sigma he had done before coming. It is most likely he named it after a girl named Alison that he had met at one point.
