The Shansheeth were a species known as galactic undertakers. They traveled through space to return lost heroes to their kin.

In 2010 the Claw Shansheeth of the 15th Funeral Fleet returned the Doctor to Earth, proclaiming him dead. They planned to drain energy from Sarah Jane Smith and Josephine Grant through their memories of the Doctor. They were lying about his death, he was trapped but escaped through use of Artron energy.
