It has not been explained in the series precisely how the Magpie brand survived and gained such ubiquity despite the death of it's proprietor, given that Mr. Magpie was apparentely unmarried and childless, and the owner of a small and explictly unprofitable television shop. It has been suggested that [[Tommy Connolly]], having been present at the events that caused Magpie's death through the mechanations of [[The Wire]], may've continued and greatly capitalised the brand in the original Magpie's honour.

*The use of the Magpie Electricals logo is something of an inside joke for Doctor Who's design team. It is on the back of the monitor on the [[Eleventh Doctor]]'s [[TARDIS]].
