Not quite sure whether to recommend deletion or mere cleanup, but I'll be generous and go with the latter. We need to tread carefully with an article like this cause it's so easy to go beyond what the scripts say. I don't think we know from any script that it's confined to Mutter's Spiral. I haven't ever heard Mutter's Spiral uttered in the new series, and most of this article is about new series things. Can we be sure that the SP and the Galactic Charter are in harmony with each other, thereby allowing us to speak of the Meagra and the Judoon in the same breath? I mean, are the Meagra even from the same galaxy as Earth? I thought they were in a different dimension. I think we're cobbling together things that are not alike, but only seem so superficially.
These problems might be so great that the article's factual accuracy has been compromised. Talk about it here or check the revision history or Manual of Style for more information.
Galactic law was the system of law, similar to international law on Earth, held by many interstellar governments in Mutter's Spiral, and was enforced by various species, including the Judoon (DW: Smith and Jones) and the Megara. (DW: The Stones of Blood) The Galactic Alliance were keen upholders of Galactic law. (SJA: From Raxacoricofallapatorius With Love)
Important documents of Galactic law include the Shadow Proclamation (DW: Partners in Crime) and the Galactic Charter. (DW: The Stones of Blood)
Specific Laws
- Galactic law said that developing worlds classed as Level 5 planets (such as Earth in the 21st century and earlier) could not be approached for legal matters, so they had no jurisdiction over the planet, and methods such as a H2O Scoop must be used to transport any places required to be visited to neutral territory, such as the Moon. (DW: Smith and Jones)
- Seeding life on a Level 5 planet is also against Galactic Law. (DW: Partners in Crime)
- Galactic bylaw 19b dictated that dogs must be kept on leads. (SJA: From Raxacoricofallapatorius With Love)
- Article XII of the Galactic Code banned golems. (BFA: The Beast of Orlok)
- Galactic Law said that first claim of mining rights on any given planet will always go to the planet's native population. (CC: The Prisoner's Dilemma)
- Destruction of a Level 5 planet is illegal unless the planet has commited a crime against another planet/race. (DW: The Eleventh Hour)
