The Mantodeans were preying mantis-like creatures at war with the Quevvils.

They grew up to two meters long. They were judged as monsters by the humans because of their violent behaviour, but were highly intelligent; they were able to build a highly technological stronghold.

The Mantodeans were horrified when a Quevvil-controlled Rose Tyler shut down all of their power, but they were so angered by the Quevvils and busy plotting their revenge against them that they didn't notice that Rose had escaped.

It is unknown what happened to the Mantodeans, but because there were hundreds of Mantodeans left and only two Quevvils it may be assumed they won the war. (NSA: Winner Takes All)
