Jessica Hynes (born Jessica Stevenson in 1972) first played Glory Bee in Invaders from Mars, but is more recognisable as Joan Redfern in the Doctor Who stories Human Nature and The Family of Blood and her great-granddaughter Verity Newman in The End of Time.

Jessica Hynes is an English actress and writer, most renowned as co-writer and star of the UK sitcom Spaced (alongside Simon Pegg, who also appeared in Invaders From Mars). She was known professionally as Jessica Stevenson until 2007.

As a teenager, Hynes was a member of the National Youth Theatre company, and made her screen début in 1993 playing the First Midwife in Peter Greenaway's The Baby of Mâcon. Her film credits include voiceover work for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Shaun of the Dead.
