The Kangs were gangs of wild young girls living inside the Paradise Towers. They were divided into groups by at least three known colours: Red Kangs, Blue Kangs and Yellow Kangs. The last Yellow Kang was killed shortly before the Doctor arrived on Paradise Towers. (DW: Paradise Towers)
The Red Kangs greeted each other [they called it How You Do] with some sort of children's clapping game. (DW: Paradise Towers)
Names
The Kangs didn't use ordinary names. They were named after objects:
- Bin Liner
- Fire Escape
- No Exit
- Air Duct
- Drinking Fountain
Language
The Kangs used their own language, with different words or pronunciation:
- Unalive instead of Dead
- Brainquarter instead of Headquarter
- Footing instead of Walking
- Alleviator instead of Elevator
- Carrydoor instead of Corridor
- Hide-in instead of Hide-out
- Un-young instead of Old
- Mayhaps instead of Perhaps/Maybe
They also often used the phrase: Build High for Happness.
- The name is a phonetic corruption of "gang".
