David Hasselhoff was an American television actor best known for starring in the TV series Knight Rider and Baywatch in the late decades of the 20th century. He also experienced success as a pop music singer in Europe. In this capacity, he performed at the falling of the Berlin Wall. The Tenth Doctor once remarked that he had gone twice to the event in order to avoid Hasselhoff's singing. (NSA: Autonomy)

The Doctor's comments related to the real life song, "Looking for Freedom", which was a number one hit in Germany at the time of the fall of the Berlin Wall.
